Belle the Beagle has been trained to help diabetics manage their condition. Her acute sense of smell can tell from her charge’s breath when their blood sugar is low and remind them to do something about it.
If the diabetic still blacks out – potentially fatal if no one is around – Belle bites the No 9 key on the phone (the short key for that mobile’s 911) and barks into the phone to alert the operator of the problem.
