I went to the wonderful city of Barcelona last night as a guest of the inaugural meeting of the local Mobile Monday, which has turned into a Global movement with something like 30 cities throughout the world. Jari Tammisto, the founder/coordinator of the movement was there too and it was great to meet him, alongside local founders, fellow blogger and Mobilist, Rudy De Waele and Carles, Christina and Martin.
I gave one of the presentations, with my topic being the history of mobile marketing. This proved to be a bit of a challenge in my 15 minutes allotted, so I focused on the contrasts between Push and Pull, using ZagMe and AdMob as case studies. You can get the slides from all presentations at the Barcelona chapter websites, in due course.
Feedback was very positive and there’s a lot of interest in AdMob, which is very encouraging, from both wap publishers and potential advertisers. AdMob seems to be getting an awful lot of attention at the moment, mainly as it proves time and again that it just simply, works.
Feeling a little jaded though, as in typical Spanish fashion we went out for a delicious supper, which didn’t start until 11.00 pm.
If you’d like to start a Mobile Monday in your City, check the website to see if there’s one already before getting in touch with Jari. I’m sure he’d be delighted to explore things with you.
If¬†you happen to be in Koln/Cologne on Thursday afternoon and want to meet for a coffee,¬† shoot me an email. I’m also back in London on 10/11th July if anyone fancies meeting up. I’m quite busy, but if there’s any interest in a few beers on 11th, that would be cool.
