You're reference to Marek is a subtle observation that many of these apps include "search-like" capabilities, but they are absolutely task driven in a very specific context (navigation and traffic) rather than search/browse driven. Once we realize that, a whole bunch of new apps start to make sense where people find data and use it to act or decide on something.
