I followed an interview Richard Windsor gave a few days ago as well, and I think it's worth picking up on some of his other key comments as well:

-Focussing on developing markets, he highlighted how 2008 will a key year for Russia, as they will be rolling out their 3G infrastructure

-He expects China to follow in 2009, with a massive hike in 3G spend

-2008 will see substantial slowing down of Capex spend by operators (in general)...is everyone taking note of this?

-HSDPA remains too expensive an option for mainstream market.Latest shipment data of HSDPA handsets testifies to this. A pick up is expected in 2009.

If anyone out there has a copy of his report, I'm sure there will be other tidbits of note to highlight and share...

I think, MOTO's problems are not the design of the handsets. It's the capability to mass produce them.

That's what killed Z10, before it was even announced. While a decent phone in September/November 2007 (if the price was right), certainly a very lame flagship for 2008.

That was the problem with Z8 too. It's just too lame for H2, 2007.

And that will be the problem with their new rumored handsets - 5mpx Kodak phone, 8 mpx Scarven and others.

Now, if we could see someone with manufacturing oomph and worldwide expansion ambitions to take over, there still might be some hope there.
