Ozzi -- that made a huge difference and I was able to get speeds similar to the web browser.

So I guess I need some faster memory. Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi Ozzi,

Interesting you mention that... I recently switched the Messaging app to save messages to the memory card and I noticed a significant decrease in the speed of the app. I have the Podcasting application set to use the memory card, but I'll change it and check.

BTW, I'm using a Kingston 4GB card.

Thanks!

Hi Carlo,
When you use podcasting, go to settings->downloads
in the options "Save to". Are you using phone memory or removable memory? if you are using removable memory what brand are you using? I know some brands are slower than others.

From my understanding downloading to phone memory is faster and web browser is doing exactly that ( then asks user to save to wherever when the download is complete).

Just for comparison's sake, I downloaded a recent 30MB podcast in the Podcasting app, the N82's web browser and on my Mac, all over my Wi-Fi at home.

Podcasting app: about 30 minutes
N82 web browser: about 3 minutes
Mac: about 1 minute

The difference between the N82 browser and the Podcasting app is perplexing.

No idea what that issue could be -- it's fine for everything else.

Sounds like maybe there's an issue with your WiFi? I have no issues with the Podcasting on my N82 downloading via EDGE or WiFi (though obviously EDGE takes a bit longer).

They are several issues with automatically resuming interrupted downloads, but once it's going, it should be rather quick.
