I am planning on getting one, provided I have a chance to play with one a bit first and it checks out ok. I like the fact that it’s Google and open source. I am expecting a lot of apps to become available quickly. I would have opted for an iPhone, but I’m not an AT&T fan. Besides, I already have T-Mobile.

totally going to buy one because i believe in the power of software and google does as well. it may be ugly, it may be a bit chunky, but the fact that i can replace anything in the software stack is impressive.

i don’t like the phone book? fine, i’ll find another one.

i don’t like the sms interfact? fine, i’ll find another one.

etc. etc. etc.

this is freedom, this is when real innovations happen.

The first iteration just doesn’t looks sexy from the product shots I have seen leaked so far; a little boxy, a little too many seams. Also, I’d need to see just how good that UI is in practice, you know?

Can’t wait to get mine! After a couple of weeks with the iPhone I was disappointed and went with a touch for non phone related stuff. I am excited to see the stuff people are going to do to customize the phone/presentation layer over time.

I’ve had several normobs ask me about it, so awareness among non-mobile nerds appears to be high. That said, nobody really knows anything about it, apart from “it’s the Google phone”. Hopefully it will be nice, but given the past of, well, mobile, I’m taking a wait-and-see approach

I likely won’t buy one, but I’ll be closely watching to see if the final version is available to easily install on the Nokia N8x0 Internet Tablet. It’s something I’d like to tinker around with, but I don’t really need/want the extra hardware that it comes bundled with, which is an odd thing to say, lol.

Also, personally, I’d take those estimates with a grain of salt, assuming that it’s a T-Mobile exclusive for a period of time. That’s going to greatly inhibit sales, especially as most of those who are the market for Android are already in a contract with AT&T.
