Matt over at MobilePlaya reports that Canadian carrier Rogers has opened North America’ first mobile music download shop, powered by Melodeo. While the store features songs from just three labels — EMI, Universal and Warner — it does allow for dual-download to both handset and PC.
Melodeo’s system also lets users “share” music via Bluetooth (PDF). Users can send songs they’ve downloaded to other users with the Melodeo app, who can then listen to a 30-second clip of the song. Should they choose to buy it, the app connects to the server, bills the relevant account, and retrieves a key to unlock the song.
